“No longer one size fits all, the great Australian workhorse grape is breaking out and fulfilling its potential.

Siobhan Wigan, winemaker at Hentley Farm, remembers feeling pretty relaxed in October last year, just before the winner of the prestigious the Melbourne Royal Wine Awards presentation dinner in Melbourne. Very relaxed.

The team had convinced ourselves we probably wouldn't win with a grenache," she remembers. They were wrong.

APPLAUSE ERUPTED as the MC read out the winner: Hentley Farm The Old Legend Grenache 2021, Barossa Valley. It was only the second time a grenache had won in the award's 60-year history. Arguably the most coveted in Australia, the Jimmy, as it is fondly called, is awarded annually to the best one- or two-year-old dry red in the county,” writes Jeni Port.

What a great initiative!

We are excited to announce that we now have a bin available outside for the Pro Shop for members and guests to dispose of their old golf balls for recycling purposes.

Thanks to Golf Ball Recycling we can help reduce the carbon footprint within the golf industry and these golf balls will be collected and repurposed to be used in many applications including outdoor furniture, safety bollards, roadways, paving, soft fall surfaces and waste water and drainage systems to name a few.

Currently the vast majority of old golf balls remain in the environment or go to landfill. They are toxic to the environment because of the plastics and other chemicals that go into their manufacture.

Warren will continue to provide a bin for ‘better’ used golf balls in the Pro Shop that can be used by other groups.
