Happy Independence Day!

60 years ago today, Flinders officially became an independent university.

📚 Quick history lesson

Before Flinders was Flinders, the Bedford Park campus was planned as an extension of the University of Adelaide. But on 1 July 1966, it became a university in its own right.

Since then, students have marked the day in true Flinders style - with champagne breakfasts, go-kart races around Ring Road, tug-of-war across the lake and a few pranks 🏎️

To celebrate, we’ve pulled some photos from our archives to show how much the campus has changed over the past 60 years. Let us know in the comments if you recognise these spots!
