Reflections Next Level Care

Marion has been at Flinders Medical Centre since the day it opened in 1976. Recently, she celebrated her 90th birthday with the Women’s Health Clinic team.

“They hired me for a 3-month trial, but I said I’d be here forever,” says Marion.

Marion worked as Office Manager in Intensive Care for 26 years until she retired to help an injured family member. However, it wasn't long before she came back to Southern Adelaide Local Health Network - SALHN as a volunteer.

“I love the work and I get satisfaction from sorting things out,” Marion said.

“I always look forward to Thursdays when I come in.”

Acting Midwife Unit Manager Melissa says the Women’s Health Service is a better place thanks to Marion.

“We’re so grateful for all the work she does, sorting out all our photocopy, bringing smiles and sharing her expertise,” says Melissa.

“We don’t know what we’d do without her.”

PM to give $800 to certain workers Prime Minister Scott Morrison will announce two bonus payments totalling up to $800 for aged care staff, amid a push for workers in the sector to get a 25 per cent pay rise.

Take a moment to thank and appreciate your fellow staff your friends and family who are currently doing above and beyond for our loved ones in our aged care sector. The numbers we are looking at in aged care homes is 1107, they are saying the sector ran out of workforce staff a week before. We never ran out! We never had proper staffing to begin with. Now we have valued staff quiting and been burnt out. Residents are been neglected like never before. Staff are doing over 12 hour days, we have no PPE action needs to happen!
