Notification Regarding the Current Status of BCASA
Please be informed of the following regarding the Bengali Cultural Association of South Australia (BCASA):
1. Executive Committee (EC) Status
• As of August 2024, BCASA has no active Executive Committee (EC) or registered members.
• The last EC members resigned by August 2024.
• Since March 2024, no official events have been organised under the BCASA structure.
• The last Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held in November 2023, which did not result in any forward movement for the association.

2. Attempts to Revive the Organisation
• A meeting was convened by the former EC on 10th August 2024 to resolve the organisational deadlock, but no constructive outcome was achieved.

• The Ex-President (2021–2023 EC term) independently organised a Durga Puja volunteering event in 2024 under the BCASA name. This event was executed without any financial commitment from BCASA, purely with community support and goodwill.

3. Governance and Objections
• The ex-President( 2021–2023 EC term ) was willing to form a new EC slate as per BCASA's constitution. However, this initiative was obstructed by objections from a few former members, resulting in no progress.

4. Current Asset Management
• Some BCASA assets remain under my custody, and I am currently acting as a caretaker of these until a newly elected EC is formally in place.

5. Concerns and Misuse
• It has come to my attention that the BCASA name has been used by individuals for personal purposes, which is highly concerning.
• Organising events under BCASA without a valid EC or constitutionally-backed structure neither advances the organisation nor serves its broader community role.

6. Path Forward
• For the interest of BCASA and its standing within the community, no events should be organised under its banner until:
o A legitimate EC is formed as per the association’s constitution
o A resolution is made to formally dissolve the organisation and retire the name.
Let us prioritise structure, accountability, and integrity before engaging in further activities in BCASA's name.
