At Dunkelbunt Studio, a very special kind of magic unfolds: warm, intimate, and close — yet opening a doorway to distant worlds. Ulf Lindemann aka 𝗱𝘂𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗹𝗯𝘂𝗻𝘁 invites you to an evening that moves between intimacy and expansiveness. Joining him is 𝗛𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗻 — singer, multi-percussionist, and master of the tabla. Also part of the journey: 𝗝𝗮𝗵𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 — wordsman, spoken-word artist, and MC between worlds. His voice opens another space of resonance: stories of streets and stars, of science and spirit, of identity, resistance, and connection.

Their music is both journey and dialogue: classical Indian rhythms merge with lyrical piano playing, virtuosity with ecstasy, meditative depth with uptempo trance. Together, they open doors to sonic worlds between East and West, jazz and classical music, voice and instrument.

This is not a concert in the traditional sense — it is a process: a vibrant dialogue between three voices, three biographies, three perspectives.

In 2004 I cycled from Vienna along the Danube all the way to Istanbul - across seven countries. The field recordings, sketches, and photos from that journey became the source material for my debut album Morgenlandfahrt. Developed in the early 2000s between Hamburg and Vienna, the album combines influences from the Balkans and the East with jazz and swing, translating them into a contemporary electronic framework - between dub, breakbeats, and club aesthetics.

This blend shaped my work decisively in the direction of Balkan Beats and Electro Swing. Conceived as a musical travelogue, it weaves the sounds, voices, and ambiences captured on the road into the compositions; the tour photos inform the artwork.

A hallmark is the large number of contributors: around 150 guests and collaborations lend the production its international color, including Amsterdam Klezmer Band, Fanfare Ciocărlia, Harri Stojka, Östblocket, !DelaDap and 17 Hippies, 5’nizza, Orient Expressions, Deobrat Mishra, as well as early vocals by Raf Camora (as Raf MC).
