Draw Them In: A Visual Approach to Target Audiences and Storytelling with Veronika Mischitz and Nicole Paschek

How can we better connect with audiences through visual storytelling? This interactive workshop invites participants to think differently about how stories are shaped, using character design and world-building grounded in audience insight.

Working in small groups, participants will analyse characters, consider audience perspectives, and create short comics on specific topics. Each story will be told through the eyes of a chosen character, offering a fresh way to approach communication challenges.

With a focus on collaboration and shared learning, the session encourages participants to try new approaches and learn from others across disciplines.

Please note that this workshop is limited to 24 participants, with places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

On a Different Note: A Meditative Networking Exchange with Niklas Marzinek

What happens when we step back from fast-paced networking and instead take time to write to one another? This session invites participants into a quieter, more reflective form of transnational exchange grounded in personal letters.

Drawing on contributions from Public Engagement professionals in Germany, South Africa, Kenya, Benin, Cameroon, and Zambia, participants will receive a handwritten letter sharing experiences shaped by different cultural and institutional contexts. These letters offer a window into how engagement is practised across settings, and how perspectives shift from place to place.

Take time during the session to read and reflect, then respond with your own letter in your own time. Each reply will be sent back to its original author, creating a thoughtful, two-way exchange that values care, attention, and reflection.

Slow down, write, and connect through a form of communication that encourages deeper understanding and longer-term dialogue.
