Vienna has a strong and growing community of initiatives, organizations, universities, companies, people and many others that are active in the field of sustainable development (SD) and education for sustainable development (ESD). They form a vast pool of expertise and may well become one of the leading factors of the development of the Vienna-region towards sustainability. We understand ourselfs as a platform for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and activities between these research institutions, public agencies, enterprises and organizations in the Vienna region. By enhancing transformative education we want to move from sustainability visions to concrete actions and provide impulses towards a sustainable economic development of the Vienna region. To cope with the socio-economic dynamics of the “east-west-interface” of the Vienna region, the RCE Vienna shall be extended to Bratislava and include key-institutions of formal, non-formal and informal education in the Centrope region.
