The exhibition Master and Apprentice explores the Lithuanian design scene from an intergenerational perspective. Through fashion, product, graphic, and interior design, it highlights design positions and personalities that have shaped the development of multiple generations over decades.

Design is presented as a multilayered process defined by exchange, mentoring, and the transmission of experience. Rather than focusing on finished outcomes, Master and Apprentice traces the hidden stories of design: networks of collaboration, and learning that shape creative practice and form the identities of designers.

The works showcased at this year’s Joseph Binder Award are not just expressions of individual creativity; they also reflect a collective consciousness attuned to the challenges of our time. They demonstrate how design can provide tangible solutions to pressing issues—whether by crafting compelling campaigns that promote sustainable practices or developing innovative visual languages that amplify diverse voices.

The theme »Show Your Color« embodies the courage of designers and illustrators to challenge conventions and use their skills to illuminate critical issues.

At this year’s Joseph Binder Symposium, we will explore the fascinating works that defined this edition of the Joseph Binder Award, reflecting on their impact and significance. Between speaker sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the JBA community, forge new synergies, and immerse themselves in an inspiring atmosphere.

We are especially honored to open the symposium with a keynote speech by Henry Steiner.
