It’s our pleasure to welcome our Aprils subnetAIR duo, Yeosulme Kang and Jaehwa Baek (a.k.a. Sulme & Jae-Nder Fluid)! Wednesday, April 8th, they will present their project and talk about their work.

ABOUT
A key aspect of their artistic practice is examining the intersection of two identities—immigrant and q***r. They especially aim to connect this exploration with the concept of “spatiality.” They examine how q***r-immigrant individuals interact with space, how space influences their bodies, and how certain elements of space resonate with them. They manifest their ideas through visual media, time-based media such as moving images, video, and short films, as well as installation works, thereby constructing a visual world.
Recently, they have begun to incorporate a physics-based perspective into our exploration of space. Time and space are inseparable. Thus, they seek to explore how the fluidity of identity over time combines with spatial experience and what this spacetime interaction means to q***r immigrants.

Yeosulme Kang and Jaehwa Baek are a Korean artist duo based in Bremen and Hamburg, Germany. They have explored the fluid and multi-layered nature of social constructs through their complex identities as q***r immigrants.
