Most students think mathematics is about formulas.
I show them it’s actually about curiosity.
Here is a technique how to instantly grab the students’ attention. Start class with a logic riddle instead of lecture.
The moment curiosity is triggered, focus comes naturally — no discipline required.
Here’s one of the riddles to use:
Riddle:
I am a two-digit number.
The sum of my digits is 10.
My tens digit is 4 more than my ones digit.
What number am I?
How students solve it:
Let ones digit = x
Tens digit = x + 4
Equation:
x + (x + 4) = 10
2x + 4 = 10
2x = 6 → x = 3
So tens digit = 7
Answer: 73
What happens next?
Students who were silent become curious.
Students who feared math start participating.
Students who memorized formulas begin thinking.
And that’s when real learning begins.
Because mathematics isn’t about numbers.
It’s about awakening the mind.
