Bamyan located at center of Afghanistan, mainly depends on agriculture and livestock. Due to its clean weather and high altitude, Bamyan has the potential for installation of solar panels for electrification. Through a GIZ funded project, Voltaf has conducted surveys in Shebar, Yakawlang 1, Yakawlang 2 and Waras districts for the assessment of current situation of the solar panels and Micro Hydro Powers (MHPs) and the possibilities of installation of new solar power and MHPs to electrify rural areas; Villages, SMEs, Institutions and Clinics. During this survey 60% of the villages in the mentioned districts are surveyed. The surveys are conducted with district officials, leaders of villages, business and MHPs owners.
