When you plan to lease an apartment or house in Astana your landlord may ask for a Security deposit. This practice is not mandatory, but if it's the case for you keep in mind ⬇️⬇️⬇️ THREE IMPORTANT THINGS:
1️⃣ The amount: normally the security deposit is equal to one month rent. So, no need to agree to something more than that.

2️⃣ How will you get your money back? Will it be returned to you at the end of the lease or will it be used as the last month rent payment? (the latter one is preferred)

3️⃣ What will it be used for by the landlord? In case of no payment or damages to the property that you may cause?

Quite often the normal tear and wear is understood differently by the parties, that's why it's highly recommended to get it specified in the lease agreement.

⚠️ Being an expat in Astana always sign a lease agreement at a notary's office and make your rent payments only via bank transfers. Stay safe!
