Today, on August 23, the port of Gdansk (Poland) for the first time accepted the world's largest container ship MSC Gulsun.

About it writes TsTS with reference to the information DCT Gdansk. It is at this deep-sea terminal that the 400-meter MSC ship will be processed.

Gdansk became the final destination on the debut flight of the giant container ship. He came here from the German Bremerhaven, before visiting the Spanish Algeciras. On the way from Chinese Tianjin to Europe, the ship also passed through the Suez Canal for the first time.

The container ship will continue to operate on the AE 10 / Silk service, which MSC operates in collaboration with MaerskLine.

The ship was built at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard. This is the first container ship in the world to hold 24 rows of containers in width. Its deadweight is 197500 tons, length - 400 m, width - 61.5 m. MSC Gulsun became the first of a new class of container ships with a capacity of more than 23 thousand TEU.

The vessel is adapted for the transportation of 2 thousand refrigerated containers, which should increase the volume of transportation of food, beverages and pharmaceutical products by sea. On the new class container ships, double hull protection around the engine and a new fire extinguishing system are provided.

It is planned that another 10 such vessels will be built: an order for 5 of them will be performed by Samsung Heavy Industries, another 5 - by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.

MV Paul R. Tregurtha is a Great Lakes-based bulk carrier freighter. She is the current Queen of the Lakes, an unofficial but widely recognized title given to the longest vessel active on the Great Lakes.[1] Launched as the William J. De Lancey, she was the last of the 13 "thousand footers" to enter service on the Great Lakes, and was also the last Great Lakes vessel built at the American Ship Building Company yard in Lorain, Ohio.
