The world’s largest painting has been sold for a staggering $62 million.
The artwork, by British artist
Sacha Jafri, scooped a Guinness World Record for its size last year – it’s over 1,595m2 (17,176ft2)! It’s also one of the most expensive paintings ever sold at auction by a living artist.
The painting was created at the
Atlantis hotel in Dubai. It was
inspired by pictures sent to Sacha by children from more than 40 countries, showing how they were feeling during the pandemic.
It was originally meant to be sold in 70 different parts, but in the end the whole thing was bought by just one businessman, Andre Abdoune.
All the money raised will go to children’s charities, to help young people across the world.
