Archiveda® Ateliers: Colours of Change and Transformation
Session 3: Performance under Pressure - Warrior Spaces - resilient and responsive environments for leaders

An evening exploring how spaces respond under pressure - and how design can become a stabilising force during moments of stress, change, and transformation.

Through conversations around material, acoustics, colour, and emotional response, the session will examine how environments influence clarity, resilience, and performance.

From emotional containment to environments that give back more than they take, the evening reframes design as something felt in the body before it is understood by the mind.

Derived from the Phellinus ellipsoideus mushroom, MuSkin is a 100% plant-based material offering a soft, suede-like touch without toxic treatments or synthetic additives.

Naturally breathable and rich in endemic penicillins, MuSkin balances tactile warmth with functional durability for fashion, accessories, and interior applications.

Its surface remains intentionally imperfect - each piece carrying variations shaped entirely by nature. A material that challenges conventional ideas of luxury through biology, not industry.

Waste plastic, reimagined through process and precision.

Dirk van der Kooij transforms discarded plastic into furniture shaped by machine logic, material behaviour, and craft. Produced in a former military warehouse, each piece emerges through a process-led approach where texture, imperfection, and material integrity remain visible.

Recycling over 30 tonnes of plastic annually, the studio challenges perceptions of value and permanence - creating objects designed to endure across generations rather than trends.

A compelling intersection of waste, machinery, and collectible design.

GreenEdge transforms roadside hay and CNC wood waste into a biodegradable sheet material bound with natural casein adhesives. The result is a terrazzo-like surface that balances structural performance with an organic visual character.

By turning overlooked biomass into functional interior materials, GreenEdge reframes waste as resource - supporting biodiversity, reducing environmental impact, and opening new possibilities for circular design.
