Kids had an incredibly entertaining and educational defence and personal awareness training. It was taught by the American Defense Academy of Dubai to improve children’s safety and learn how to fend off attackers.

How safe do you feel?

Knowing how to protect oneself is not exclusively an adult activity. It is actually a useful skill for the growing child. Learning self-defense for kids helps them know how to take life on fearlessly on a number of levels.

A large part of self-defense has nothing to do with hitting or striking another person.
• It is being aware of your surroundings.
• It is carrying yourself with an air of confidence so attackers won't even bother.
• It is listening to your gut and leaving before a problem arises.
• It is using an assertive voice once there is a problem.
• And it is knowing when to get out of a situation.

In collaboration with American Defence Academy of Dubai (ADAOD) we organised children’s self-defence lessons.

Many kids in the UAE – which is one of the safest countries in the world – are not fully prepared for the “real world”. This course will change how they think about personal safety and help prepare them against predators.

According on their age kids will learn about victimology, the victim selection process, the predator mindset, the secondary crime scene, date r**e drugs, tactics, strategies and more.

Date: July 9
Time: 11am-12:30pm for boys and girls 6 to 8 years old
1pm-2pm for boys and girls 9 to 13 years old
2:30pm-4:30pm for girls 14+
Where: Nook at One JLT
Cost: AED 100 under 14 years old
AED 200 for 14 years old and above
