Regional tensions escalated sharply as the United States conducted a second wave of large-scale strikes against Iranian military targets, prompting widespread IRGC missile and drone attacks against US facilities across the Gulf and Jordan, effectively ending the ceasefire and significantly increasing the risk of further military escalation. Washington warned that additional strikes and a potential naval blockade of Iranian commercial shipping remain under consideration, while fears of disruption to the Strait of Hormuz drove oil prices sharply higher. Elsewhere, security incidents linked to suspected Iranian-backed networks disrupted President Macron's visit to Syria, US-mediated Lebanon negotiations were scheduled for mid-July despite ongoing disagreements over Israeli withdrawals. Militant violence continued across Pakistan's Baluchistan Province.
