Egyptian vulture
📍Abu Dhabi, UAE
This rare bird has a bald yellow head and throat with a white collar, giving it the nickname pharaoh’s chicken. Its preferred habitat is mountains and rocky escarpments. When the egyptian vulture is a juvenile, its legs are grey – but, as an adult, they change to pink.
Adult (Image 1) – clean white body, striking contrast with dark wings, and fully yellow face — classic adult look.
Subadult (Image 2) – increasing white in body and wings, but still showing some darker coverts.
Juvenile (Image 3) – entirely dark brown with no white; typical of birds in their first year.

Pharaoh eagle owl
📍Al Qudra Desert, Dubai UAE
The Pharaoh Eagle Owl is a nocturnal bird that nests on cliffs but also in old tree nests of ravens. It has orangey-yellow eyes, short ear tufts and cat-like face patterns. They are silent hunters as their flight doesn’t make any sound, even if they are close to their prey due to slightly specialized wing feathers. They are monogamous- they pair up for life.

Imperial Eagle
📍Al Qudra Desert, Dubai UAE
Very large; dark-brown body of adult contrasts with pale head and nape. Similar to Golden Eagle but with a shorter tail and white shoulders that can be hard to spot. The underwings are dark with low contrast. Immatures are strikingly different, sandy brown with prominent streaks and a pale rump contrasting with the dark tail and dark flight feathers. Breeds in forested areas intermixed with steppes and agricultural areas, where often seen perched on pylons. Winters in open habitats, including cropland.
