A NEW DAY, A NEW RECORD BREAKING DDoS ATTACK

Now with the largest DDoS attack that Europe has ever seen that occurred earlier this month, the trend continues.

The attack occurred on 21st July for 14 hours, peaking at 853.7 Gbps (gigabits per second) and 659.6 Mpps (million packets per second).
The target, a client of Cybersecurity company Akamai, has been under the radar of attackers over the past 30 days with about 75 DDoS attacks.
Just like previous record-breaking attacks, this DDoS attack also originated from a "highly-sophisticated global botnet" of infected devices.
Powerful botnets capable of record-breaking DDoS attacks have been in the news recently among the likes of Mantis, Meris, etc.

The monetary loss from such attacks is huge besides the cost of mitigation services.
