Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Citizens Taskforce - ZACCT

We received and recorded a case of suspected abuse of office with an element of corruption by a government official employed under the Ministry of Health and stationed at Mt Darwin District Hospital in Mashonaland Central Province. The official was arrested and taken to court where the matter is still pending before the Mt Darwin Magistrates Court.
However citizens in Mt Darwin approached ZACCT and raised concerns over the continued occupation of office by the accused person and perceived failure by the relevant authorities to effect suspension of the accused person pending finalization of the matter and there has been suspicion that the accused is being "protected" and "defended" by some "high offices."
ZACCT would like to advice all concerned citizens who have been constantly making enquiries on progress reecorded on the matter that upon investigation and follow up on the matter, it has been established that the accused person is not being protected nor defended as alleged given that the matter is still pending at the courts and the health authorities on their part have commenced due processes in accordance with relevant labour procedures.
The public therefore is being encouraged to be patient and give room to the ongoing court and Ministry of Health processes.
