TANK STAND DESIGN

At Infraworks construction Ltd, we will give you the designed, certified and built water tanks by experienced, professional structural engineers. This ensures peace of mind when it comes to safety considerations.
These water tank stands designs depends with the demand for your area, and at Infraworks we will advise you accordingly.
Some of the designs for these tank stands we have done include the vertical water tanks up 30, 000 litres on a 15m height. Other heights includes: 1.5m, 3m, 4.5m, 6m & 9m.
At Infraworks, we will supply you with a current engineer’s certificate for all heights on request.
The certificate contents below refer to a 4.5 metre high steel Infraworks water tank stand for a 10,000 litre vertical water tank.

Engineer’s certificate for 10 000 litre tank stand x 4.5m high
water tank stands.

1. Column legs – 60x60x5 angle made from commercial steel.
2. Cross brace – 30×5 flat bar made from commercial steel.
3. Horizontal brace – 40x40x5 angle made from commercial steel.
4. Top platform main support beam – 150x75x10 angle made from EN 10025-2-S355JR steel.
5. Top platform secondary support beams – 125x75x20x3 lipped channel (11 off) and made from commercial steel.
6. Use two M16 grade 4.8 bolts for the each of the column to platform connections.
7. Use one M12 grade 4.8 bolt for all other connections.
8. The cold formed lipped channels are to be bolted to the main support angle with two M10 grade 4.8 bolts at both ends of the lipped channel.
9. Leg centres – 1600 mm.
10. Column bracing centres – 1500 mm.
11. Platform size – 2240 mm x 2240 mm.
12. Foundation size – 1000 mm x 1000 mm x 600 mm.
13. Foundation material – 30 MPa concrete.
14. Max Loading Capacity – 10 575 kg (Tank stand).
15. Foundation Bearing Pressure – 50 kPa

This is to certify that the water tank stand tower structure and foundations as shown on drawings (Attached) has been designed to comply with the following design standards:

SANS 10160 Parts 1 to 8 – 2011. Loading code
SANS 10162 Parts 1 and 2 – 2011. Structural steel design code
The tank stand can withstand all wind loads and seismic loads specified for any area in Zambia.
