GPZ SALUTES HH FOR REJECTING U.S FUND

The opposition Golden Party of Zambia (GPZ) has added it's voice in commending Republican President Hakainde Hichilema and the New Dawn government on the move to reject more $1-billion US funding package on grounds that the conditions attached did not align with the interests of the Nation.

In a state to Mac Media Thursday evening, GPZ President Jackson Silavwe said inspired by patriotism and defense of our collective national interests, his party had no option but to stand and support President Hichilema on this matter.

Mr Silavwe added that his party believes that collective national interests supercedes political contests.

He further noted that GPZ does not mistake patriotism with differing on development angles but will always rise to defend the sovereignty of our Nation.

GOVERNMENT HASN'T FAILED THE SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAM - MWANAKAMPWE

Central Province Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakampwe has trashed claims by some school authorities in Kabwe District that government has not paid out funds for meal preparation in schools.

Addressing the media in Kabwe Wednesday afternoon, Dr Mwanakampwe reaffirmed the new dawn administration's stance on the implementation of the free education policy, adding that more than enough grants have been released to schools to support the project.

He has observed that it is the responsibility of school administrators to utilize these funds effectively, including paying those preparing meals for the learners.

Dr. Mwanakampwe noted that Teacher - Parent Committees can contribute to school programs with approval from the District Education Board Secretary, but any contributions without approval would be considered illegal.

He cautioned school authorities in the District to avoid the temptation of soliciting for support from parents towards the feeding program.
