Back in the 1800s, walking canes were far more than just a fashion statement. While today we rely on rubber tips for grip, our ancestors specifically avoided rubber and chose solid copper for a very scientific reason: harnessing the Earth’s natural electrical charge.
Here is how this incredible historical bio-hack worked:
The Earth’s surface is constantly humming with a limitless, natural supply of negatively charged free electrons. Because copper is one of the most conductive elements on the planet, these canes acted like a direct conduit to that energy. Every time the solid copper struck the soil or the cobblestones, it drew those healing electrons straight from the ground, up the metal shaft, and directly into the palm of the hand.
Once this natural electrical current entered the body's nervous system, it went straight to work. The influx of electrons neutralized positively charged free radicals, drastically reducing joint inflammation, soothing arthritis, and accelerating cellular repair.
Long before modern "earthing" or "grounding" became a wellness trend, the 19th century was already literally tapping into the planet's energy to heal themselves with every single step.

KALASA BACKS U-17 GIRLS FOR WORLD CUP
Veteran Ndola administrator Richard Kalasa says Zambia’s Under-17 Women’s Team can secure a third FIFA World Cup appearance when they host Ethiopia on Saturday.
Zambia face Ethiopia in the first leg of the final qualifying round for Morocco 2026 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, kick-off 15h00. Carol Kanyemba’s side has already eliminated DR Congo, Uganda and Rwanda.
Kalasa, former Forest Rangers chairperson, said the team showed quality against DR Congo at Levy.
“I want to see the girls qualify for the World Cup. The last time I watched them at Levy against DR Congo, they showed massive talent,” he said.
“We have a future in these girls. They are young, talented players who will take over from Barbra Banda and Rachael Kundananji.”
The former administrator urged fans to turn out in numbers.
“I am encouraging all supporters to come to Levy Mwanawasa Stadium and back the girls,” he said.
Zambia have been in camp in Ndola for over two weeks. The return leg is in Ethiopia next week.
