The Independent Commission for Human Rights wishes to inform the public that we will officially close on 12 December 2025 for the festive season. Date yoba sisebenze futhi will be announced.

During this period, the Commission will only attend to emergency GBVF (Gender-Based Violence and Femicide) matters. All other services will resume upon reopening.

As the year comes to an end, we extend our warmest wishes to the people of South Africa. May this festive season bring you peace, safety, joy, and quality time with your loved ones.

🚨APPEAL TO THE HONOURABLE PREMIER OSCAR MABUYANE REGARDING OUTSTANDING INTERNS’ STIPENDS🚨

The Independent Commission for Human Rights wishes to express its respect to the Honourable Premier of the Eastern Cape, Mr. Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, and acknowledge his recent intervention to resolve delayed stipend payments for thousands of young beneficiaries in the provincial Skills Development Programme.

We appreciate the commitment shown by the Premier’s Office in protecting the interests of the youth. However, we respectfully bring to the Premier’s attention that a number of interns remain unpaid for October and November, despite the corrective measures announced. Their names and outstanding amounts have been compiled in the attached document.

Total amount owed to all listed beneficiaries:
R747,340.00

We humbly request the Premier’s assistance in ensuring that these remaining payments are finalised urgently so that no beneficiary is left behind or financially disadvantaged.

The commission wrote to the Office of the Premier and will wait for correspondence.

The Commission stands ready to assist and cooperate in any way necessary.
