Simmz, “SIMTHANDILE JANTJIES” by birth name, was born in a small township in the Boland called Ashton where he grew up and matriculated. His passion for Hip-Hop started at a very younger age but he got involved in this culture on his Varsity years in the year 2009.Simmz is a versertile,dedicated type of an mc who tell life stories through this art form as he paints pictures with his lyrics. My
aim with this music is to educate every individual who listen to my music as I create awareness and my mission is to grow and be an icon. Simmz comes from a crew called ONE1 MUVMNT which contains of mc’s like QHAWE,RUFFKAT ,ILL DRE,NASTY X,STHERRA TONDERAI which are more like his brothers as they played a vital role on his carrer.I am a versatile type of an mc and the type of music I am doing is Boom Bap and conscious as I grew up listening to KRS1,wu tang clan,deadprez,common,Talib kweli,AMU and the late Tayce the miczilla to name few and that is where I got the inspiration.Simmz have been performing in cape town and where he got a chance to share a stage with some of the cape town’s well known artists such as driemanskap,Rattex,Storm(EC),PRINCE(EC),Zanzolo and Ndlulamthi .In 2013 was selected as one of the Solo rappers to performs at the Baxter Theater(creative database) on the young guns .I also performed in Ashton,Worcester,Robertson,Strand,Ceres,Mossel Bay,Paarl,MONTAGU as well as Beaufort West
I have worked with lot of artists in Cape Town and outside home(One1 movement) I have worked with artists like POZI PRODUCTION,BLAQ SCIENTIST, TG,NUNSTOP PHAM,VERBAL CARTELYST,BLAQ UMNTOMNYAMA,,VEGITA,NTSIKANE,SK BALENI,LEO IV,TOP SETS,BLAK KALAMAWI,MC MANEZA,SOUNDFUSSION,ZWILAKHE,SIBA NOVEL,MICHELLE,IXD,SAM SLIK,D’LO,TEARS,NENZO(DEMONZ CAMP),BOOK OF LAWS,HOMICIDE,PHARMACIST,DE COMPOSER and I feel like blessed that I have work with such artists coz there is a lot I have learnt from them as they strengthened me . In 2013 I released my first solo mixtape titled “The Rap Scriptures “ which was more like an introduction .In 2015 I got a recording deal at REDBULL STUDIOS(CAPE TOWN) where I Recorded my EP titled ‘RHYMES n REALITY’ and I am still working my first official album which is dropping early in 2017 .
