Alberta Dachshund Rescue

We have been invited by the Edmonton Elks Football Club to put on the halftime show on Friday, July 17th!

Because we only have 15 minutes, it won’t be our traditional race format. The current plan is to run a few quick heats (depending on numbers), followed by one big “all-dog” dash across the field in front of football fans!

This is such an exciting opportunity to showcase our amazing little dogs and Alberta Dachshund Rescue!

Let’s show the Elks just how much entertainment can come in a long, low package!

***Please note that all dogs must be comfortable around crowds, loud noises, and other dogs.

Need a foster? Ladelle.
Need a transport? Ladelle.
Need someone to organize something? Ladelle.
Need someone to say “Sure, I can help!” before you’ve even finished asking? Definitely Ladelle.

She has never met a dachshund she wouldn’t help—or a challenge she wouldn’t take on. She’ll happily load up her vehicle with 8–12 dachshunds and make the drive from Calgary to Edmonton like it’s just another Tuesday. (Most people would struggle with one backseat driver… she does it with a dozen wiener dogs! 😂)

And if that wasn’t enough, she even offered to donate a kidney. Now that’s commitment to the rescue! 🤣 (Don’t worry—we won't take her up on that!)

Her dedication, compassion, and willingness to jump in whenever and wherever she’s needed have helped save countless lives. She is truly one of the reasons our rescue is what it is today, and we honestly couldn’t imagine doing this without her.

Happy Birthday, Ladelle! We hope your day is filled with love, laughter, and maybe just a little less dachshund hair in your vehicle… although we all know that’s probably not going to happen. 🐾🎉

Come join us at Day of the Cheese for a day filled with delicious cheese, family fun, and, of course, dachshunds! Stop by the Alberta Dachshund Rescue booth, say hello, meet an adoptable pup (or two!), and cheer on the competitors in the 2nd Annual Dachshund Sprint Championship! The event supports several local organizations, including Alberta Dachshund Rescue.

Happy Father’s Day and National Dachshund Day!

What are the odds that Father’s Day and National Dachshund Day landed on the same day? Almost as rare as a dachshund admitting they were wrong.

Today we celebrate all the amazing dads out there — the ones who throw the ball 437 times, share their snacks when they said they wouldn’t, and somehow end up with only 6 inches of bed because a wiener dog has claimed the rest.

Whether you’re a dog dad, human dad, foster dad, stepdad, granddad, or just the guy currently being supervised by a dachshund, we hope your day is filled with love, laughter, and only a moderate amount of stubbornness.
