Do you prefer to get paid for speaking or not pay for speaking gigs?

There are pro's and con's to both.

The type of speaking gigs I recommend the most are ones where you can offer something so that you can continue to grow your reach and get more people on your email list. Once they are on your list you can nurture them, invite them to your events, and they may eventually become clients.

You can get these types of gigs for free, pay a small fee or sponsor a stage and pay at larger fee.

Of course there are different kinds of speaking gigs. Ones that pay you to speak. Those can pay you anywhere from $100 up to $20,000+. Whilst this is great to get that case injection, those people who listen to your talk don't have an easy way to connecting with you or getting more information about what you offer and how they can become part of your tribe. Not everyone has the guts to walk up to the big main stage speaker and start talking to them, it can be intimidating!

So I feel like there is a loss of potential clients with this strategy.

I guess you can always do both!
