A lot of people have been talking about R360 like it’s the next big thing, so here’s a clearer picture.

R360 (Rugby 360) is a proposed breakaway global rugby comp backed by private investors, aiming to start in 2026. The idea is a touring-style league with teams playing in major cities around the world. Sounds big, but there’s a few things to understand first.

It’s not officially sanctioned by World Rugby yet. Approval hasn’t been locked in.

On top of that, a bunch of national unions have already said that if a player signs with R360, they could lose eligibility to represent their country. So if someone chooses R360, they’re choosing the pay cheque and the travel over the national jersey.

There’s hype because of the money and the global push, but there’s also real questions around stability, structure, broadcasting, and whether it will actually last.

So yes, it might shake rugby up. But right now, it’s something to watch carefully, not something to jump straight into.

Our players deserve clarity, not confusion.

Will this benefit our Pacific Island players? Most definitely the 💰 is life changing and the lure of global stardom and travel is another deal breaker! Not sure if the format will work but I get it fast action paced games with big superstar names in major cities all around the world...imagine...

Last night hurt man 🙄😂. No way around it. We wanted this. We felt this. We carried hope like a drum in our chest. Toa Samoa went to war out there and left everything on that field, and even in defeat, they gave us something rare: unity. Pride. Identity. A reminder of who we are and where we come from.

It’s easy to celebrate when we’re winning. But it’s in the losses that you truly see the heart of a people. Our villages, our families, our youth, all stood together. Flags flying. Voices loud. Old songs came back. Tears came back. The love came back.

Toa Samoa didn’t just play a game, they reminded us of the power of being Samoan. Of standing for something bigger than ourselves. 🇼🇸🤝🏽

So to our boys: fa’afetai. Thank you for inspiring the next generation. Thank you for carrying our ancestors with you. Thank you for making a small island feel like the centre of the world. You united us again – in the streets, in the churches, in the lounge rooms, in the hearts of our people across every ocean. 🌊 🇼🇸
