Your years of service reflect resilience, leadership, and a deep sense of responsibility. You have stood as a pillar of strength within the prison service, helping to maintain order, inspiring discipline, and contribute to the development of the institution and country alike.

Congratulations on celebrating 30 years as a prison officer in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Your dedication and sacrifice are deeply appreciated, and your service will continue to inspire future generations of correctional officers. Behind the walls and watchtowers of the prisons in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are women whose strength extends far beyond the uniform they wear. They serve our country every day with pride and dignity at His Majesty’s Prison Kingstown, the Belle Isle Correctional Facility and the Female Prison, where they balance the demands of duty with the love and sacrifice required at home.

They rise early to care for their children, then stand tall in their role as a prison officer, ensuring order, discipline, and safety in our facilities while inculcating good habits. Their compassion touches the lives of all, and their resilience inspires others. Their dedication also reminds us that sacrifice is often quiet and selfless.

On this Mother’s Day, we celebrate these remarkable women of the Prison Service. They are mothers who serve with pride, lead with integrity, and play their part to shape a better future for our country. Their contributions don't go unnoticed, and their sacrifice will always be honored.

SENIOR CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS’ CONFERENCE IN GUYANA 2026

The Superintendent of Prisons Mr. Dwayne Bailey and Senior Prison Officers Gareth Clarke and Nicole Delecia attended a one week conference in Guyana, held from March 16, 2026 to March 20, 2026, that brought together senior prison officials from throughout the region.

The Senior Officers participated in sessions receiving insights as to best practices and ways for further development within our Prison Service. They also visited the Lusignan Prison facility, where they saw first hand the operations and procedures.

The conference served as an opportunity to strengthen the leadership and professional capability of Seniors Officers within the Prison Service. Sessions were delivered through presentations from regional and international professionals, round table discussions, and site visits.

Of particular importance was the common issues/threats that exist throughout the region and placing an emphasis on a way forward. These discussions opened the way for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to be developed where all participating countries signed and agreed to cross-service training and expert exchange visits to improve the professional development of personnel. Also, by sharing best practices and technical assistance, the participating services aim to enhance their capabilities and foster a culture of mutual support.

The participation of the Prison Service in this activity reflects the Service's continued commitment to professional development and leadership training. It also strengthens the organisation’s ability to meet modern prison operational standards through capable management.

On March 20, 2026, the Law Society Club, Cape Law and Paralegal Classes (1st and 2nd year) of the SVG Community College, were welcomed to His Majesty’s Prisons, where they visited the Belle Isle Correctional Facility (BICF).

The students were given a grand tour and provided with valuable insights into how the prison operates within the Criminal Justice System.

We wish the students all the best in life as they pursue their studies in Law. It was a pleasure hosting them.
