USSD Que es y como usarlo?. Actualmente WhatsApp es la aplicación más utilizada, dejando de lado a los mensajes de Texto, o SMS. Ahora bien, no muchas personas saben que sus teléfonos tienen la capacidad de utilizar una modalidad de comunicación alternativa (sin contar las llamadas ni SMS, ni WhatsApp). Nos referimos a los mensajes USSD, que nos permiten enviar mensajes de hasta 183 caracteres de longitud. Su funcionamiento es muy similar a los SMS, pero con algunas diferencias. La diferencia más importante, es que nos permite realizar transacciones en tiempo real, es decir, al enviar un mensaje USSD se inicia una sesión, (lo que no sucede con WhatsApp ni SMS) se establece una conversación en tiempo real. A diferencia de cuando yo envío un mensaje SMS, que me queda el registro del envío, pero no tengo registro alguno de si fue recibido, ni mucho menos si fue leído y cual es la respuesta. Enviar un SMS por analogía, es como ir a un cajero, seleccionar la operación de retiro de dinero, y que, al transcurrir cierto tiempo sin tener una respuesta, optásemos por cancelar la operación retirando la tarjeta. En realidad, no sé qué paso, no sé si se recibió mi petición de retiro de dinero, si está siendo procesada y si será debitado el dinero o no de mi cuenta, o entregado al próximo cliente. Esto es lo que se llama una sesión no transaccional, una comunicación en la cual no sé si fui escuchado. Cuando uno envía un menaje USSD, siempre recibe una respuesta al instante, se responde, y se obtiene una nueva respuesta, y así sucesivamente hasta que se termina la comunicación. Nada mejor que algunos ejemplos; antes que nada, todos los mensajes USSD comienzan con el carácter asterisco “ * ” y terminan con el carácter numeral “ # ”. Por ejemplo, si yo desde mi celular Ancel marco *611 # (asterisco, 611, numeral) me aparece un menú de 5 opciones. Supongamos, por ejemplo, que elijo la opción 4, marcando 4 y enviando, responde diciéndome mi número de teléfono. Si elijo, por ejemplo, la opción 1, marcando 1 y envío, respondo instantáneamente con un menú de tres opciones, Destinos gratis, Números gratis o Salir. Tratemos de marcar 1, es decir, destinos libres, y nuevamente responde con un menú, esta vez con 5 opciones; y así sucesivamente. Otro ejemplo de mensajería USSD, es si el marco * # 06 # (asterisco, numeral, 06, numeral), en este caso responde con el IMEI del teléfono, un número de 15 dígitos que identifica el dispositivo, el teléfono, el aparato en sí, el IMDI es un número que eventualmente necesito para reportar la pérdida o robo de mi teléfono.
