Pelon Travels to the Manila International Book Fair 2025
This September, Pelon, The Untold Story of a Yuma Hero, will be featured at the Manila International Book Fair — one of Asia’s largest literary gatherings.
📅 When: September 10–14, 2025
📍 Where: SMX Convention Center, Manila
🌐 www.manilabookfair.com
Pelon is more than just a Western adventure. It’s a historic novel set in the desert Southwest between 1850 and 1890, following Pelon, a brave hero from the Quechan Indian Tribe. His journey is one of courage, survival, and identity — navigating the challenges of a rapidly changing world while holding on to the traditions of his people.
Why is this so special in Manila? Because Pelon’s story echoes the spirit of the Philippines’ own hero, Lapu Lapu — a leader who defended his people and stood as a symbol of resistance and pride. Like Lapu Lapu, Pelon’s courage was real, his story rooted in truth — but unlike many celebrated figures, Pelon’s legacy has been hidden in history… until now.
Pelon will be standing among stories from all over the world at this year’s fair, where readers and storytellers come together to share voices, cultures, and untold histories.
For all those attending the Manila International Book Fair 2025, be sure to stop by and discover Pelon, The Untold Story of a Yuma Hero. Let’s celebrate the heroes history almost forgot.

Chihuahua peeps!
BORN TO RUN:
“This is Maria Salomé. She is pictured here on her way to winning in the women’s division of the 10K event in connection with the 2012 marathon sponsored by Oxxo, the big convenience store chain.
Maria Salomé is a woman from a group of reclusive indigenous people called the Tarahumaras who live in the southwestern part of the state of Chihuahua. They shy away from contact with the outside world and remain for the most part isolated there. However, they are legendary long distance runners and have been doing this for centuries.”
She ran without running shoes, without proper clothing and with her hair loose... She competed only with a great condition and mainly a big heart.. and with pride to their land, chihuahua and all Mexico!... good for her!.
