Around 245pm on Tuesday 4/15/25 the Westborough Fire Department along with auto-aid were dispatched to McTaggart Street for the reported porch fire with extension to the house. While enroute Car 1 (Chief Purcell) reported smoke showing from a distance. On arrival crews found the rear of the house well involved. A working fire was declared as well as a quick 2nd alarm bringing in additional resources. Crews worked diligently to bring the fire under control in about an hour. FIU determined the fire was accidental in nature and the estimated damage is $1.2 million.
