Meet Eva Akese, CPA, audit manager at Spinelli CPAs, whose journey into accounting began with a simple yet powerful motivation: to combine her love for math with a career that would make an impact. Growing up in Ghana, Eva saw accounting as a path to opportunity—and today, she uses her expertise to help businesses make informed financial decisions with confidence.

For Eva, Black History Month is a time to recognize progress, resilience and the need for greater representation in accounting. With only 2% of U.S. CPAs being Black, she believes it’s essential to bridge the opportunity gap and encourage more diversity in the profession.
