The Woodbridge Police Department will be joining law-enforcement agencies across New Jersey for the first statewide “Goal Zero” enforcement operation on Blackout Wednesday, November 26. This is the inaugural coordinated effort supporting the Goal Zero campaign, which promotes a shared commitment to zero deaths, zero injuries, and zero crashes on New Jersey roadways.

Thanksgiving Eve—often referred to as “Blackout Wednesday” or “Drinksgiving”—marks the start of a seasonal increase in impaired-driving incidents. In response, the Woodbridge Police Department will deploy staggered DWI and traffic-safety patrols beginning at 2:00 PM and continuing throughout the evening and into the early morning hours across roadways within the Township.

This initiative is funded through the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, in partnership with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, and supported by Drunk Driving Enforcement Funds previously awarded to the Township, along with dedicated Township DWI enforcement funds to maximize public-safety impact.

The Woodbridge Police Department remains committed to protecting all who live, work, and travel in our community. We urge everyone to plan ahead, drive responsibly, and help us move toward Goal Zero.
