🦝 Guess who stopped by the Poozeum for a special visit? The team from Ranger Rick!
For me, this was a full circle moment. I grew up reading Ranger Rick magazine, and it played a huge role in sparking my love of animals, nature, fossils, and the weird side of the natural world. It encouraged curiosity, exploration, and getting outside to discover things firsthand, values that absolutely helped shape what I do today.
It was an honor to share the Poozeum with a publication that inspired so many kids, including me, to look at nature a little more closely.
Even better, the Ranger Rick team left behind a big stack of magazines and decals that we’ll be giving away free while supplies last when we reopen on Wednesday!
Huge thanks to the Ranger Rick team for stopping by and for continuing to inspire new generations of future scientists, explorers, and wildlife lovers.

The mosquito in amber from Jurassic Park is pretty awesome, but these pieces might beat it. A bird foot with feathers, lizards, spider hatchlings, a crinoid, a scorpion, even a jawbone with sharp teeth, and of course some poo, all preserved in amber from Kachin, Myanmar. Nature’s time capsules are absolutely wild.
I am hopeful these pieces, and others like them, will eventually end up in research institutions around the world where they can be properly studied. If you are a researcher interested in learning more about any of these specimens, or about the current situation in Myanmar and its border regions, feel free to send me a DM.
Huge thanks to Zhang Cheng and Lung Tak Chun for sharing these incredible pieces with me.

It was great meeting Lung Tak Chun, owner of Fossils HongKong and author of the Chinese-language book Paleontology Fossil Lab: Dinosaur X-Files. He’s one of Hong Kong’s most influential fossil and dinosaur experts and has helped contribute to museum exhibits across the city.
He also has an incredible fossil collection from around the world. If you ever visit Hong Kong, this is definitely a place worth checking out.
