After taking the stage in "Hello, Dolly!" at Music Theatre Wichita, Jacob McGlaun, assistant professor of musical theatre at Wichita State, is bringing a little of that experience back to the classroom.

"Being back in the rehearsal room and on stage refreshed my perspective as both an artist and an educator. The experience reinforced the value of collaboration, adaptability and storytelling - lessons I bring directly into my classroom. Staying active as a performer helps me connect my teaching to the realities of the profession and inspires my students through current, firsthand experience,“ McGlaun said.

By continuing to work as a performer, McGlaun brings current industry experience into the classroom, helping students better understand the realities of a career in musical theatre.

Big things are taking shape at the Wichita Biomedical Campus℠. Prep work is underway for a new sign that will soon welcome visitors to this transformational part of Wichita's healthcare corridor.

A Wichita State summer leadership course took 15 students from Kansas to South Carolina, where they utilized design thinking, contemporary research and scholarship to make a meaningful difference with local nonprofits.

'INCREDIBULL' -- : Wellington native, Wichita State University alum earns spot on Chicago Bulls stunt and cheer team

Wichita State geology students spent part of their summer in the Bighorn Basin in northern Wyoming and southern Montana conducting field work, exploring incredible landscapes and putting their classroom skills to work in the real world. The experience wraps up with travel to Yellowstone and the Tetons. We love seeing Shockers learning by doing and making the most of every opportunity.
