11/17/24 : Buck # 132 : Part 4 :
… we hang out for a few minutes, respecting our distance. I spoke to him kindly and he sniffed and vocalized a little bit. We understood each other in kindness and both in awe. I’d like to think he was in awe, but probably more in embarrassment as a buck like this don’t hang out with bros in the road.
He politely sent body language that told me he was going to move on and that our meeting was about done.
He wanders off into the thickets and then I see an opportunity… if I can head west about 50 paces I might catch him on the other side…or he’s gonna blow out of here….

…he stepped out into the clearing, and I got out and leaned on the gate. I’m only at 30 yards, and he’s chill. What a beautiful creature, sneaking around in this dark and quiet bottom. He can hear my heart pounding and the click of my camera…

After a quick hollar, I get him to pause and give me the ol’ look back, and he’s a beaut! What a stud buck!
