Pulley broke on the alternator, spun the belts, and I was 2 miles from Tonkawa.
Theres no way I’m going to find a pulley for a N14 cummins celect (1992) and I had overlooked packing tools.
Pulled into Wilkins Truck Chrome. Ive noticed he has a lot of older trucks. Initially the guy i talked to said he didn’t but the owner walked past and so he asked him.
The owner, I think his name was Brian, told me to follow hom as he rummaged through a parts room. He gave me 4. Said try those. If one fits let me know. 1/2 the battle is over.
Start to try and get the altenator off. By now it’s raining. As i said I did not have tools. So i tried everything with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver. Not going to happen.
I had to walk to Loves Truck Stop. I wasnt hopeful as it seemed over the years their mechanics had become less than motivated to do anything i had needed help with and never without a high price.
I saw a mechanic (Steven). Told him my issues and said i needed a 19 mm deep socket and wrench.
He never hesitated. Gave me all i needed and never charged a dime Made the job so much easier.
