Haiku July, Day 11
Actually, this poem is a Senryū: similar in form to haiku, but focusing on human nature.

On the Day of the Summer Solstice
Today, the sun lingers—
as if it has nowhere else to be
but here,
pouring its gold across the fields,
the rooftops,
your open hands.
You do not need to hurry.
Even the earth pauses.
Even the trees lean back
and bask.
What if your shining
requires no striving?
What if you are already
enough—
your breath a hymn,
your body a garden
still growing?
The light has never asked you
to be perfect—
only present.
So let the long day hold you.
Let the warmth sink deep.
And when evening comes,
bow once to the West,
and say thank you
for all that is still becoming
within you.
