Miller emigrated from Germany to Iowa, where he worked as a carpenter for several years. In the 1950’s, John G. Miller expanded through the creation of subsidiary Black Hawk Construction to better serve clients outside of Black Hawk County. In 1977 another subsidiary, Cardinal Construction was formed.
