The DC Primary Election is right around the corner! Do you know who you will be voting for on June 16th?

DRDC created a guide for DC Voters with information on the positions of the candidates running for Mayor. The survey was sent to all mayoral candidates and we received responses from eight.

We are kicking off our mayoral candidate highlights with Janeese Lewis George, a third-generation Washingtonian and former prosecutor. George is currently serving as Councilmember for Ward 4.

Candidate responses have been shortened for social media. Read the full responses here:https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/65792ba62c7815e2cdc139a2/6a15df9f4dc6a3c6076637f6_2026%20Mayoral%20Candidate%20Disability%20Voter%20Guide.pdf

Starting with the 2026 Primary Election, your ballot will look different. This year, DC begins using Ranked Choice Voting!

Voters are free to vote for their favorite candidate, and they also have the power to rank their backup choices (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th) if they’d like.

If your 1st choice is in last place, your vote automatically goes to your next choice. This continues until someone wins over 50% of the vote.
