First, A Word about Our Name

The name ACDI/VOCA dates back to the 1997 merger of Agricultural Cooperative Development International and Volunteers in Overseas Cooperative Assistance. Both were nonprofit international economic development organizations founded by the U.S. The merger achieved new economies of scale and blended the complementary strengths of ACDI’s long-term development approaches a

Meet Minaxmi Sarkar, a farmer and entrepreneur, who received training from an ACDI/VOCA-led program in Bangladesh.

The dairy sector in Bangladesh plays a critical role in reducing poverty, improving nutrition, and creating economic opportunities, especially for women, like Minaxmi.

As demand for milk grows alongside rapid urbanization and economic expansion, Bangladesh’s dairy industry has significant room to grow. Large dairy processors are increasingly important in delivering safe, high-quality milk and dairy products to consumers.

Across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, our work strengthens every stage of the dairy value chain:
✅Improving feed systems
✅Boosting smallholder productivity and cooperative capacity
✅Expanding cold chain infrastructure
✅Increasing access to finance

These efforts help farmers and agribusinesses raise production, improve quality, and connect to more reliable, profitable markets. Learn more about our programs in Bangladesh: http://www.acdivoca.org/projects/feed-the-future-bangladesh-livestock-and-nutrition-activity.

Investing in climate‑smart agriculture is transforming rural communities in western Honduras, and the results are being seen firsthand.

At a recent SAG‑ProOccidente Project field day in Intibucá, producers, government leaders, and development partners came together to witness how climate‑smart technologies and technical assistance are strengthening productivity, resilience, and opportunity across the region.

Through hands‑on demonstrations and farmer testimonials, participants saw how investments in improved irrigation, tools, and sustainable practices are helping rural families increase yields, build businesses, and create more stable livelihoods at home.

This collaborative project, led by Honduras’s Secretaría de Agricultura y Ganadería (SAG) and implemented by ACDI/VOCA, with support from partners Inter-American Development Bank and AECID, highlights the power of integrated rural development to drive lasting impact.

As producers continue adopting climate‑smart solutions, they are not only improving incomes, but also strengthening resilience and reducing the drivers of migration.
