After bringing Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment Michael Duffey to North Dakota last week, I met with Matt O’Malley, the nominee to serve as Duffey’s deputy. This position plays an important role in modernizing the Pentagon’s acquisition system, focusing on new entrants to the defense industrial base, and accelerating the delivery of cutting-edge capabilities to our warfighters.

Without a strong nuclear triad capable of prevailing in any conflict, America’s position and security on the world stage are weakened. Today, I was honored to show Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment Michael Duffey how Minot Air Force Base—itself hosting 53% of our nuclear arsenal in two legs of the triad—and the rest of the North Dakota defense ecosystem bolster our nuclear deterrence.
