I sometimes can't believe that years ago the life I lived was so terribly different than how I exist in the world today. Naming all the ways life has improved would be nearly impossible. I've become the authority on all things me, as opposed to being so wrongly characterized and treated by others. I have input about every part of my day. My relationships with family and friends and others are completely different.

You must understand how awful an existence it is to have no means to communicate and have people get you so wrong. Please don't contribute to harms against Nonspeakers. Treat them with respect and recognize their full humanity. Do not get in the way of someone finding their voice and liberty.

I am going to high school next year and I'm excited about opportunities ahead.
