American democracy works best when all people, regardless of their race or background, can have influence and share decision-making power. That's why Fair Elections Center, along with our colleagues at the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, signed a joint letter opposing the so-called Safeguard American Voter Eligibility, or "SAVE" Act.

This legislation is a continuation of the anti-freedom agenda which aims to weaponize our diversity and use immigrants as scapegoats to continue to restrict and take away our voting rights by requiring documents to prove citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. We demand Congress pass federal voting rights legislation to protect against these attacks and ensure our democracy works for all.

Did you know that a crucial component to a successful student voting coalition are partnerships with local election officials? Coordination can occur around voter education, and open communication can help navigate issues that could arise for student voters. Furthermore, collaborating with local election officials is a great way to recruit students to serve as poll workers!

Our May VFC webinar will explore how to forge this partnership, ways to sustain it, and opportunities for growth. We will also hear from election officials like Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum to gain their insight. Here's what you need to know ๐Ÿ‘‡๏ธ
