Trump’s Speech Tonight Won’t Be About the Economy or Iran - The American Prospect 07/16/2026

President Trump will deliver a speech to the nation tonight, reportedly rehashing the Big Lie that he actually won the 2020 presidential election. Actually, the speech is only nominally directed to the nation. It’s really directed only to the MAGA movement. The nation will not be tuning in, primarily because, by all available evidence, it’s already tuned Trump out. https://buff.ly/ZGbBq9o

The weirdest thing about Trump’s comments at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, was the random stream of consciousness. It seemed as if he was making it up as he went along and acting just to demonstrate his own power, rather than out of any coherent or strategic purpose.

“For me, I think it’s over,” he said on Wednesday, speaking about the agreement with Iran.

“I don’t want to deal with them anymore,” Trump told reporters, sitting next to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. “They’re scum. They’re sick people,” Trump added. “Far as I’m concerned, it’s just a waste of time dealing with them.” https://buff.ly/a8j0Egv
