o AFGE members and the general public as well as to promote the positions and interests of AFGE. While social media serves as a forum for online discussion, and opposing points of view will be respected and presented, AFGE is under no legal obligation to allow any particular post or comment to be displayed on social media run by AFGE, and we reserve the right to delete any post that does not comply with this policy. It is our stated goal to foster open and frank discussion between users while at the same time furthering the primary purpose of our social media, which is to promote AFGE’s viewpoint and that of the labor movement in general. Abuse of the privilege to engage with AFGE’s social media by anyone may result in having content deleted and/or privileges revoked. Abusive engagement includes:

• Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, s*x, age, disability, genetic information, pregnancy, s*xual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, personal appearance, family responsibility, political affiliation, matriculation, credit information, or status as a victim or family member of a victim of domestic violence, s*xual offense or stalking.
• Use of vulgar, profane or s*xually explicit language, imagery, or graphics.
• Personal attacks.
• Direct or implied threats of violence or physical harm.
• Numerous, repetitive posts designed not to enlighten the debate, but to saturate the page with a poster’s own thoughts or that of a particular issue and/or candidate.
• Content that spreads falsehoods or unsubstantiated rumors about AFGE or any AFGE member.
• Using a fake name/profile.
• Clearly off-topic content.
• Content that advocates illegal activity.
• Spam or unauthorized promotion of commercial interests.
• Fundraising appeals that are not endorsed by AFGE.
• Infringement on or unauthorized use of copyrights or trademarks, including those of AFGE.
• Promoting candidates for local, district or national union office. Comments expressed on our social media are not necessarily the opinions of AFGE and are the sole responsibility of the person posting the comments. If you see a comment or post that violates this policy, please send a private message to the administrator to alert them so that they may follow up as appropriate. Private messages on social media, comments on posts made by AFGE, or emails to [email protected] or [email protected] do not constitute notice to AFGE for purposes of invoking any legal rights you may have; members are advised that specific questions about grievances, contract issues, workplace issues, benefits, members' personal discipline cases, AFGE Constitutional issues or other related union matters are best suited to be answered by your local union representatives.
