Biden-Harris Administration Finalizes Suite of Standards to Reduce Pollution from Fossil Fuel-Fired Power Plants | US EPA 04/25/2024

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s newly finalized standards to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, mercury, and other pollutants from fossil fuel-fired power plants are an important step to fulfill EPA’s responsibility to protect public health and the environment. Coal and natural gas-fired power plants contribute 25% of U.S. emissions of climate-heating carbon pollution. Georgetown Climate Center looks forward to engaging with EPA and state agencies to support implementation of the new rules and ongoing discussions about how best to continue progress toward our greenhouse gas and other pollution-reduction and public health goals.
