I am so excited to share that Barbee St. Design Co. will be at the upcoming Spring High Point Market. The High Point Market can best be described as fashion week for home furnishings.
is the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world. Serious retail home furnishings buyers, interior designers, architects, and others in the home furnishings industry can be found in High Point, NC twice a year, in the Spring and Fall.
For me this is super special because I was born and raised in High Point, NC and grew up always knowing that High Point was the “Furniture Capital of the World”. Barbee St. Design Co. is named after the street I grew up on in High Point, NC.
This is a full circle moment and I’m so grateful that I can be there not only representing Barbee St. Design Co. but also my hometown.

The Consultation Process: I require that each client book a consultation first because the process allows us to have a clear understanding of the vision and design needs. I will ask for pictures of your space, furniture items that you would like to incorporate, as well as go into detail about color, style, lifestyle, etc. Through this process, I am able to create a cohesive mood board for you so that you are able to visualize each recommended element in your space.
For instance, this week’s mood board showcases one of my clients who purchased this beautiful green sectional and her goal was to build around it. Knowing that she wanted to incorporate gold tones, I created a color palette that was green, black, white, and gold. When designing this space we wanted it to feel sexy and sophisticated but still have an earthy element. From the images, you can see how the sofa and dresser/media console were the show stoppers. So it was important to add other items that were complimentary. Like this beautiful chandelier from Mitzi, it accentuates the other items in this living spaces by highlighting the black and gold. The use of a cowhide rug grounds the space and gives that earthy element that pairs well with the green sofa. Additionally, the client was interested in art from Black artists. Still using the color scheme I added two pieces from Spencer Charles and a sculpture from Murjoni Merriweather.
What aspects of this mood board connect most with you when you see it?

Back for another Tuesday’s Design Tip! This week is all about trays. I love incorporating them into my design work, it’s a great way to create balance and order while putting things you love on display. Swipe to see 3 trays styled differently used in various parts of the home.
