"Insurance only covered a certain number of sessions. How is that even fair?”
It isn't, but that's exactly what Carla was told while being treated for severe PTSD after surviving a violent crime.
No one tells a patient with diabetes or a broken leg they've used up their "sessions" for the year — but mental healthcare still gets capped, gated, and rationed like it's somehow different.
It isn't different. Mental health is health, and care that's fair means coverage for the treatment that people actually need to get better.
Carla's right to ask. What's your story? Share it and join the movement: carethatsfair.us

Every family deserves access to mental health care, and Maryland is making it happen.
Two new laws will increase mental health access at critical stages in life, helping new mothers and students across the state get the mental health care and supports they need.
Last week, Governor Wes Moore signed two mental health bills into law, measures that will:
📚 Improve student access to school psychological services
🤱 Improve the identification and treatment of perinatal mental health conditions
These are more than just policy wins. They're deliberate investments in mothers, children, and the communities that surround them.
We're proud to have been part of pushing it forward and want to acknowledge the advocates, champions, and community members that helped make this win happen.
Huge thanks to Maryland School Psychologists' Association, Senator Malcolm Augustine, Senator Dawn Gile, Delegate Bernice Mireku-North & Delegate Jennifer White Holland for championing mental health 🏆

Yesterday, the Mental Health Association of Rhode Island — MHARI — gathered partners and lawmakers to celebrate 110 years of advocacy grounded in personal experiences and a firm belief in their power to improve mental health care systems for everyone.
We are proud to be counted among those partners, and we joined MHARI to look toward the next 100 years of advocacy and to honor RI State Senator Linda Ujifusa, District 11 and former Joe Shekarchi as MHARI’s Legislators of the Year for their upstanding support of mental health care and those seeking treatment.
Our own Director of State Affairs, Caden Fabbi, represented Inseparable and shared our coalition’s vision for strengthening mental health care in Rhode Island in the coming year.
Thank you Mental Health Association of Rhode Island - MHARI for your advocacy. Thank you to Sen. Ujifusa and Speaker Shekarchi for your service. And thank you to everyone whose lived experiences strengthen the call for better mental health care for people when and where they need it.
Together, we are inseparable.
